The Start
Sam's flight to Portugal
-Colorado to London: Arrive in London with 30min to catch connecting flight to Madrid.....Maul through airport, skipping the security line, upsetting a lot of people and barely making it in time!! Phewww!!!
-Sit on stupid tarmac for an hour or more....just long enough to miss connecting flight in Madrid. Bummer :(
-Luckily get on next flight, about 4 hours later with a stand by ticket. Made it to Portugal!!!
.........BUT NO LUGGAGE
-Bag arrives next morning at hotel...Thank God.

Brian's Flight to Portugal
-Colorado to Frankfurt: Goes by without a hitch
-Frankfurt to 4 hour passout at gate and miss connecting flight (thanks Scotty D for the medication)
-Talk to nice Lufthansa woman and get on next flight to Portugal...buenas!
-Made it to Portugal and run into Sam at baggage claim with no idea that his flight just got in

Jared's Flight to Portgal
-Delayed flights in Chicago and Heathrow.
-Lost bag in transit.
-Sit in Portugal airport waiting for Sam and Brian for several hours.
-bag arrives next afternoon to hotel.

After finding Mom in Cascais, it was all up from there! Here is the story of our journey thus far...

CASCAIS:
Gotta love that hand painted tile!
-Lee put sammy and I up in the most romantic place we have ever been.....The Guest house at the Charm of Cascais which consisted of: matching terry cloth robes, beautifully painted tiles, one very large, very comfy bed and a gourmet breakfast for two...THANKS LEE!
-Went for a bike ride up the coast of Portugal to check out some waves, an old fort and have a drink or two of sangria.
-In the afternoon we jumped in the car and headed for Porto.

PORTO:
Jared King
View from top of Torre Dos Clerigos.
-Arrived in Porto early in the evening and went out in search of a place to sleep....we settled on the the Porto Downtown Hostel, get ready Lee....hostel dorm rooms!
-Also, it was a friday night which meant PARTY TIME!...time to get all *bocked up!

-Went to a cafe and tried franchismo?!, a sandwich that is sort of like the double-decker from KFC....almost every meat you can think of between two pieces of bread, covered in gravy and topped with and egg!....buenas!

-Partied out in the square which is where all of the kids seem to hang out...met some portuguese dudes and showed them how to shotgun out of a bottle....they were so pumped that they took us to some abandoned train tunnels where we partied until 5 to some electro-trance music!
-On saturday we moved to a hotel for a little more privacy, which was conveniently located one block down, to pensao cristal; and found a super close parking spot for our rental car right outside the hotel...SWEET!! or so we thought....
See if you can find our grey rental car

-Sunday we drove around the city doing some sightseeing and ended up at the center for performing arts which was a skate haven!
Lee planking the Porto bridge!

ERICEIRA:
-On monday we headed south back toward lisbon to find some waves.....we arrived in beautiful Ericeira, a small coastal town just north of Lisbon and found a super chron surf hostel.....Sea Sound for about 15 euros a night.
Cliffs along the Ericeira surf reserve
-Some sweet waves to be had along some very gnarly, rocky breaks.......caught some good ones but brain ended up hurting his ankle on the first session so I guess he'll be out for a few days....enough time to get some pics!
Sammy gettin' Rowdy!!!

-All in All the trip is amazing, Northern Portugal is more beautiful than we imagined and experiencing their culture firsthand is even more so!
-We Love you all and THANKS for reading!!!

  1. Wow!! Sounds like you guys are having a great time. I laughed so hard when I read the part about Brian teaching them how to shotgun the bottles. Keep updating this as much as you can. I enjoy hearing from you guys! Ps, that wave photo is nuts Sam!! Such a rowdy ride! Be safe and always have fun.
