Thailand: Out of the crazy city and into the smokey mountains

THAILAND
Hey Everyone! Here we go again!

 BANGKOK round 1

-As Brian stayed in the land down under Sam was off to thailand for his own little adventure for the next few weeks. First stop....Bangkok!

-I showed up alone and ready to wander the massive city. I immediately hit the streets to get lost but brought a map so I didn't get too lost.
The gold laying budda in BKK

-I wandered around stumbling into little markets, massive shopping malls and eating delicious street food.

Dank street food! Not sure what it is but it is good.
-After a few extremely interesting days in Bangkok checking out the temples by day and ragging with new friends at night, it was time to save some of the fun for when Brian gets here...... So I went north with my 3 new friends Matt, Hanna and Andreas to Chiang Mai.

 CHIANG MAI round 1
 -Chiang Mai was a blast!
Super Chron Culture!
-I stayed in a hostel that was jam packed with kids my age looking for an good time and a good time we had.

Yumm..... big noodle with Julia
Night Templing.... Awesome!
-For the sake of saving some time I'll just give you the abridged version: rent motor bike/Cruise around the mountains and my friend Andres crashes, but it was minor, Shot a huge magnum gun for a few dollars with little to no safety Briefing. Went to a beautiful lake with beautiful German girls and Andreas, met cool hipster locals ready for a good time...Music, art, singing and dancing..........Epic temple on the top of the hill....almost shit my pants scootering with a girl on the back.
Kicking with the hipsters on the lake outside of Chiag Mai
No big deal I won the shoot off
Ninjas
-
Prayer Time!
-Two day, one night trek consisting of Sweet hiking, cooling off in waterfalls and ponds, catching and cooking fish with Locals in elephant camp, ride and wash elephants, drink local moonshine and party around big camp fire. Epic! Back down to BKK get swank.
Awesome tobacco fields
Sweaty Sam with the guide who is rocking long paints and long underwear and not sweating at all

BKK round 2
-On the 9th of March after missing several flights over the past 3 days, I finally landed in Bangkok to meet back up with Sammy!

-I arrived at a place called Saphai Pae backpackers on Surasak Rd, this would be our home base until our Chinese Visas cleared.

-Once checked into the backpackers it was time to head out to the super touristy, rage street called Khao San Road and after a bucket of vodka redbulls it was game on!....time to hit the dance floor!
Bugs anyone? Lets party!

-The next morning we checked out the weekend market which was full of great food and all sorts of crazy stuff....where we swooped gifts for friends and family.
So much dank food everywhere!

-One of our favorite places to go was the Skybar located on the top floor of the La Bua hotel......we never really bought any drinks but it had the BEST view of BKK and is where they shot a couple scenes of Hangover 2! It's a classy place where you are supposed to look nice but sometimes they make exceptions!

A Party indeed!
-On one of our days we got sucked into going to a huge, crazy shopping center called MBK and it was tourist central!....They literally sell everything you could imagine, I bought Ninja throwing knives, silk ties and doughnuts!
Sick view!

-To navigate BKK we cruised the river by public taxi, the streets by tuk-tuk and the neighborhoods by skytrain.
Aaron, Andreas and myself...waitin' for the boat

-All in All.... we ate peking duck in chinatown, watched a few muay thai fights and table tennis matches, experienced a little taste of life in BKK, went wakeboarding at Thai cable park, bought a wide angle lens and made some Awesome friends!
Sam munching some box with a sketchy front board 270 out
Muay Thai round 2 FIGHT!
Swank with a dank front board on the up box!

-Once our Visas cleared it was time to head back north with our new friend from the Gold Coast of Ozzieland, Aaron.

-We arrived in Chiang Mai on the morning of the 17th and cruised back to a place that Sam had been before called Julie's Guesthouse.....Super cheap place but you could only stay 3 nights and had to book a tour with them.

CHIANG MAI round 2

-It just so happened to be St. Patty's day on the morning of our arrival, so we didn't do much except for eat some BOMB red curry and get super wasted!.....We went out to some bars and had a blast dancing and partying with backpackers from all over the world!
No joke one of the best dishes of the trip. Red noddle curry in northern Thailand. 1 dolla!!
Peace be the journey...Chiang Mai

-The Second day in Chiang Mai we rented bikes and cruised around town checking out temples and local fruit/food markets; Ending our day at a massive night market which was really sick!
Chiang Mai night market
Brain and Aaron looking about as cool as you can on our rental bikes

-Day 3 was Mahout training day where we fed elephants, learned basic mahout commands, went for an a couple hours ride and played with them in the river at the end.......an unreal day for sure!
Washing the elephants...Sooo CHUXX!
What a lovely day with lovely people!

-Time to cruise out to Pai....we caught a 3hr minibus ride up into the mountains and it was a super gnarly, windy road....Brian barely made the drive without puking his brains out from carsickness.

PAI

-Aaron, Sam and I swooped a sick 3 person bungalow just across the Pai river from town, it had a super cool/sketchy bamboo bridge for crossing the river.

-Day 1 in Pai involved cruising around town and when we walked by a random tattoo shop Sam spotted a familiar foot in the window....it belonged to none other than Brett 'the hitman heart' Lewan and the artist still had the original drawing that he happily showed us. Pai is super small and if you walk around it 4 times you'll see the same person 5 times.....so within a few minutes we ran into the crew of Canadians we were hanging out with in Chiang Mai, we grabbed some brews from the 7-11 and went to a couple bars to be social.
I would know that foot if I saw it on the other side of the world... And we did!

-Day 2 we rented motor bikes and cruised to Lod Cave, a massive, super cool cave about 50km from Pai. It was way bigger than we expected it to be and super dank! It had a pretty big river flowing through it and you can hire a small boat and a guide to take you through to the other side.

-Day 3 was spent lounging about just taking in the beautiful scenery around the village and our evening was spent wing-manning our friend Aaron on his last night with us before we head to N. Laos in the morning to cruise the Mekong!
Mango and sticky rice. Yes it is that good!

We Love you all and Thanks for reading!!!!
